Introduction

The CEC Best Practice subcommittee is a new subcommittee established to develop consensus based good practice statements for the specialty of Emergency Medicine. The subcommittee is chaired by Dr Adrian Boyle.

 

Best Practice Guidelines

Published

  • Information sharing to reduce Community Violence (Sept 2009, updated April 2010)- this guideline is to assist Emergency Physicians sharing data with Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (Community Safety Partnerships in Scotland and Wales) to reduce community violence.
  • Ketamine Sedation of Children in Emergency Departments (Sept 2009)- this guideline is to assist experienced emergency physicians using ketamine sedation for children in Emergency Departments. This guideline covers the use of ketamine for analgesic sedation in children via either the intravenous or intramuscular route.
