Calling all trainees!

Calling all trainees, EMTA is running its elections for posts for 2013 and we need your help.  We have a number of vacant posts that require filling including some new roles.

Our specialty is undergoing huge change in order to adapt to pressure from work force shortages and increased attendances to the Emergency Departments.  It’s essential that our trainees voices are heard at negotiations on every part of our emergency medicine careers from ACCS to higher trainees.

Vacant Posts include:

 · Vice Chairperson

·  Secretary and Treasurer

 ·  Professional Standards Committee Trainee Rep

 ·  Communications Officer

 · Conference / Training Day coordinator

 · ACCS Trainee Rep

Ballot forms will then be issued if there is more than one candidate nominated. This nomination and election process will be conducted electronically only.  Closing date for applications is 20th November.

With the exception of the ACCS representative's nominees must be a ST3+ or equivalent trainee in Emergency Medicine who is a member of the College of Emergency Medicine. Nominees must provide their name, current post, current place of work, email address, and a statement of not more than 300 words outlining their personal objectives by email. All reps would serve for a minimum of 24 months.

Candidates must be nominated by two other ST3+ trainees in Emergency Medicine, who are also members of the College of Emergency Medicine, who must provide their name, current position, current place of work, and email address.

The EMTA Executive meets quarterly. The meetings usually take place at the College of Emergency Medicine Headquarters.

If you would like to be nominated or know someone who wishes to stand a nomination form is available by emailing the College (
