PEM Job Plan Examples

If I were to complete my training in PEM, what sort of job plan could I expect to be working when I get a Consultant post?

Trainees from an EM background

Most EM consultants with PEM subspecialty accreditation work in general EDs seeing adults and children. Others work in tertiary Paediatric centres with dedicated PEDs, but often maintain their skills in adult EM by spending part of their job plan in the city's adult ED, including on call commitments. See the example job plans below.

Trainees from a Paediatric background

You may work in a stand-alone Children's Hospital in the ED as a full-time ED consultant or in a large teaching hospital doing the same; In a smaller hospital or DGH setting it is likely you will also have a role on the admissions unit or in critical care or child protection.
